Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the iOS application Mew (the “App”) provided by Yui Works (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using the App, you agree to these Terms. In case of any conflict between the Japanese and English versions, the Japanese version prevails.

1. Service Overview

  1. The App is a gallery-style social network focused on cats.
  2. Features include feed browsing, likes, cat-language reactions, cat profiles, posting, following, reporting, and blocking.
  3. The App does not include free-form comments. Reactions to posts are limited to likes and preset “cat language” reactions.
  4. Login is not required on first launch; guests can browse the feed. Some features such as publishing and sync require Sign in with Apple.

2. Accounts

  1. You may create an account with Sign in with Apple.
  2. You are responsible for managing your Apple ID.
  3. Free registered users can generally publish and sync one cat (subject to change with in-app notice).
  4. The paid plan “Mew Plus” (subscription) offers additional features such as multiple cat profiles, expanded storage, original-quality preservation, memory features (anniversary card sharing, memory albums, year in review, insights), and ad removal.

3. User Content

  1. You retain ownership of photos, captions, and profile information you post (“User Content”), subject to third-party rights.
  2. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, reproduce, transform, and display User Content as needed to operate, distribute, moderate, and improve the App.
  3. You represent that you have the rights needed to post User Content, including consent from cat owners and any required location permissions.

4. Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

  1. Post non-cat content or unrelated advertising or spam
  2. Post content depicting or suggesting animal abuse
  3. Post content that is obscene, violent, discriminatory, illegal, or against public order
  4. Post others’ photos or personal information without permission
  5. Infringe copyrights, portrait rights, privacy, or other rights
  6. Submit false reports or harass others
  7. Interfere with the App, reverse engineer it, or attempt unauthorized access
  8. Use bots or automated tools
  9. Engage in any other conduct we deem inappropriate

5. Safety Features

  1. You may report inappropriate posts or cat profiles.
  2. You may block specific cats; blocked content will not be shown.
  3. Report and block state may sync to Supabase for signed-in users.

6. Moderation and Removal

  1. We may hide or remove content, or restrict or suspend accounts based on reports, law, or suspected Terms violations.
  2. We are not obligated to disclose moderation decisions individually.
  3. You may delete your own posts where the App provides that capability.

7. Paid Plan (Mew Plus)

  1. Mew Plus is offered as an auto-renewing App Store subscription (monthly or yearly).
  2. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel from your Apple account’s subscription management in device Settings.
  3. Pricing and current plan details follow the App and App Store listings.
  4. Refunds follow Apple’s refund policy.
  5. Cancelling never deletes your posted content or saved records; only additional features (such as posting and editing for multiple cats) become limited.

8. Disclaimer

  1. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
  2. Except for willful misconduct or gross negligence, we are not liable for disputes between users or between users and third parties.
  3. We do not guarantee the accuracy or legality of User Content.

9. Changes and Termination

We may change or discontinue all or part of the App with notice when reasonable. We may act without prior notice for urgent safety or legal reasons.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in the App or on the web. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

  1. These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
  2. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction for first-instance disputes relating to the App.
